Canadian author Raquel Rivera joined Joliette High School Community students to create mystery and monster stories. Raquel Rivera captured everyone’s attention with her writing and group activities to spark ideas. Each student completed a short scary masterpiece! Later in the process, she provided direct feedback on their writing, highlighting creative and original work, allowing the students to build on their ideas. The school expressed their appreciation that Raquel engaged with the students to create a wonderful and positive learning environment.

Raquel Rivera is a Montreal based writer who has lived in Washington DC, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Barcelona. Since settling in Montreal, she has pursued her interest in children’s and Young Adult literature, publishing books for young readers and leading writing workshops in schools and communities across Quebec and Canada.  http://raquelriverawashere.com/

Joliette High School’s ArtistsInspire Grant experience was made possible by an ELAN Quebec/LEARN partnership for students from Quebec’s English-speaking communities to participate in arts and culture experiences, thanks in part to funding from Heritage Canada through the Government of Canada.
