We all have a story to tell!  Patti Warnock was welcomed to Ayer’s Cliff Elementary School to lead the grades 3 to 6 students in her W.R.I.T.E. ® Storytelling and Creative Writing Workshops.  The storytelling sessions focus on creativity and communication skills, adapted to the level and competencies of each student while allowing them to share their ideas and emotions. Patti’s approach is fueled by her belief that “stories stimulate interaction between generations, languages, cultures, and social classes, by opening lines of communication between people through their imagination”.

Each day during her visits, Patti would begin by telling a story. Teacher Brigitte Drew noted that the students enjoyed the stories so much that many chose to stay during recess to hear more! The grade 6 students wrote an original, personal piece which they later presented to younger students. The storytelling not only allowed for creative expression, students worked as individuals and within a group, building confidence, pride and self esteem.

Patti Warnock, the “Countess of Storytelling”, lives in the Eastern townships and has participated in numerous cultural activities and festivals throughout Quebec, Canada, the Caribbean, France, Iran, and China, including the T.D. Canadian Children’s Book Week.

Ayer’s Cliff Elementary School’s ArtistsInspire Grant experience was made possible by an ELAN Quebec/LEARN partnership for students from Quebec’s English-speaking communities to participate in arts and culture experiences, thanks in part to funding from Heritage Canada through the  Government of Canada#elanqc #elanarted #elanace #artistsinspire#TeachLearnHelp
